Ahmedabad, January 18 (CommoditiesControl): Cumin prices in Gujarat remained stable today, continuing the trend observed over the last two days. The stability in prices can be attributed to limited demand in the market.
Traders noted that although a large stock of cumin is still held by farmers and stockists, the lack of significant demand has led to a reduction in arrivals. The new season for cumin is expected to begin in March, and if there is even a slight improvement in cumin prices, the arrival of the spice may increase.
Today, around 5,000 bags, each bag weighing 55 kg, of cumin arrived in Unjha market. The price of rough cumin was quoted between Rs 4,000 to Rs 4,100 per 20 kg, while the best quality cumin was priced between Rs 4,150 to Rs 4,250 per 20 kg. The price of Bombay Bold cumin ranged from Rs 4,300 to Rs 4,350 per 20 kg. Across the entire state of Gujarat, about 12,000 bags of cumin were reported to have arrived.
In Gondal Mandi, 722 bags of cumin arrived, with prices ranging between Rs 4,270 to Rs 4,440 per 20 kg. In Rajkot Mandi, around 1,500 bags of cumin arrived, with prices between Rs 3,950 to Rs 4,300 per 20 kg.
