Cumin Prices Hold Steady in Gujarat; Less Sowing Noted

Ahmedabad, January 21 (CommoditiesControl): Cumin prices in Gujarat's markets remained stable on Tuesday due to limited demand. According to the Gujarat government's agriculture department, cumin has been sown on 4,76,481 hectares in the state as of January 20, which is 15% lower than the 5,61,306 hectares sown during the same period last year. Despite the reduced sowing, traders believe that the impact on the market will be minimal, as stock from last year is still available, allowing traders to meet demand easily.

In Unjha mandi, around 5,000 bags, each bag weighing 55 kg, of cumin arrived today. The price of rough cumin ranged between Rs 4000-4100 per 20 kg, while the best quality was priced at Rs 4150-4250 per 20 kg. Bombay bold cumin was traded at Rs 4300-4350 per 20 kg. Overall, around 13,000 bags of cumin arrived across Gujarat today.

In Gondal Mandi, the arrival of 1,336 bags was traded at Rs 4230-4500 per 20 kg. Meanwhile, in Rajkot Mandi, around 1,600 bags were traded at Rs 4050-4285 per 20 kg.

Jeeraunjha contract for MAR delivery settled at Rs 22635/quintal showing an rise of Rs 345 over previous close of Rs 22290/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 22155-22675 for the day. Open interest increased by 18 MT to 2298 MT, while trading volume increased by 411 to 780 MT.
