Mumbai, January 21 (CommoditiesControl): Clove prices in domestic markets have remained steady over the past month, while imported clove prices have been flat for the last 10-12 sessions. With the commencement of domestic clove harvesting and an increase in arrivals from key agricultural regions, prices have stayed stable, supported by steady demand and limited supply from origin markets.
In domestic markets, clove prices in Shimoga were reported at Rs 940 per kilogram, while in Kottayam, prices ranged from Rs 910 to Rs 930 per kilogram, reflecting little change from the previous month. The price for clove stem in Kottayam is Rs 138 per kilogram.
Imported clove prices from Madagascar and Indonesia have remained consistent due to limited material availability at the origin. Prices for Madagascan cloves ranged between $8,200 and $8,300 per metric ton, while Indonesian cloves were quoted between $7,300 and $7,500 per metric ton.
In Kerala's major markets, the price for Lalpari cloves was between Rs 790 and Rs 800 per kilogram, and prices for cloves from the Comoros, Madagascar, and Sri Lanka remained stable. Cloves from the Comoros were priced between Rs 730 and Rs 750 per kilogram, Madagascan cloves between Rs 760 and Rs 780 per kilogram, and Sri Lankan cloves between Rs 740 and Rs 760 per kilogram.
Given the steady supply of imported material along with the arrival of the new domestic crop, market sources expect prices to remain stable in the coming days.
