Ahmedabad, January 25 (CommoditiesControl): The cumin market in Gujarat has seen a softening of prices, with a decline of around Rs 20 per 20 kg today. Despite a reduction in cumin sowing in the state compared to last year, the overall crop condition across the country remains favorable, which could lead to further price drops in the coming days.
Traders suggest that the market could see gradual improvement if export demand picks up, particularly with the approaching Ramzan period. There are still around 20 days left for potential export demand, and if significant orders materialize during this time, it could offer some support to the market. However, for now, no major fluctuations are being observed.
Today, around 5000 bags, each bag weighing 55 kg, of cumin arrived at the Unjha mandi. Prices for rough cumin were quoted between Rs 4000 and Rs 4150 per 20 kg, while best quality cumin fetched Rs 4200 to Rs 4300 per 20 kg, and Bombay bold cumin traded at Rs 4300 to Rs 4500 per 20 kg. Overall, Gujarat saw the arrival of approximately 14,000 bags of cumin today.
In Gondal Mandi, 1155 bags were received, with prices ranging from Rs 4170 to Rs 4400 per 20 kg. Rajkot Mandi saw arrivals of around 1000 bags, with prices between Rs 4000 and Rs 4275 per 20 kg.
