Burma Lemon Tur: Tur Lemon variety of Burma-origin traded higher by Rs 150 to Rs 5,700/100Kg, in Mumbai amid mill buying activity at lower rates on immediate requirement for crushing. Similarly, domestic variety Tur moved up at Rs 6,050-6,100/100Kg at benchmark market Akola. Government is yet to decide on extension on the validity of licenses for Tur import beyond December 31, 2020. Meanwhile, some stockiest were active at prevailing rates in selected markets due to good quality arrivals. However, arrivals of new Tur in domestic market were below expectations. New Tur crop is expected to be less as compared to last year due to fewer yields. Government procurement expected to begin in the current month at MSP of Rs 6000/100Kg will likely support Tur prices. However, actual demand in Tur dal is reported to be thin. Sentiments are still under pressure due to availability of imported stocks at cheaper rates, ongoing new domestic arrivals and government’s active liquidation of old procured stock. In Burma, Tur Lemon and Linkhey varieties also gained on buying enquiries from local and India at lower rates on hopes that Government will extend validity of licenses for Tur import.
