Mumbai, 12 Sep (Commoditiescontrol) – Heavy rains (135+ mm) are reported over Pulses growing regions of Vidarbha and Telangana during last week which has hindered the harvesting activity of the Urad. There are reports of crop damage in the Urad in the state of Maharashtra. Next week's forecast is also indicating moderate rains over major Urad growing regions of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh which is likely to hinder the start of harvesting in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh and is likely to impact the yield and quality of the harvest in Maharashtra. If the weather turns out be dry in the second half of the month over the Northern Urad belt then these rains are likely to prove beneficial or else we can expect damage to the urad crop.
Around 60-70% Moong harvesting is completed in Maharashtra and these rains will have limited impact on the Moong crop but is likely to impact the remaining standing crop which needed to be harvested. Light rains were reported over major Moong growing regions of Rajasthan and light to moderate rains likely in coming week as well. These rains may helpful for pod development in the state of Rajasthan as region is reeling under drought and this may post pone the harvesting activity for a week in the regions of Rajasthan.
