Weekly: Coriander seed continues bullish trend on strong fundamentals

Mumbai, February 19 (Commoditiescontrol) Coriander prices settle firm this week in the physical market on strong buying as pipeline was empty. Prices of coriander also rose sharply at future trade as most active contract rose to the highest level since 2015.

Coriander futures gained more than 2% this week while spot prices rose Rs 100-300 per quintal in most of the markets barring Guna, a major trading centre of Madhya Pradesh where Scooter and Eagle varieties were quoted lower but Badami was prices higher.

Coriander prices have shot up nearly 17% in past one month on strong fundamentals as area of coriander seed shifted to mustard seed and some other crops. Recently pipeline was empty, that’s why processors are active in the market.

However, prices are expected to come under pressure in coming days as harvesting season is in progress in the major producing regions and the market will see a constant rise in arrivals, said an analyst.
