New Delhi, August 1 (Commoditiescontrol) Indian spice complex witnessed mixed trend last week amid subdued demand and supply. Supply of the commodities remained interrupted in some of the markets due to heavy rainfall in most parts of the country. Cumin seed saw firm tone in the spot and futures as well due to low stocks which supported prices to go up.
Chilli prices stayed mixed last week but upside movement is expected this week on strong demand from locals and exporters as well.

Cumin seed prices gained Rs 40 to 140 per 20kg in the benchmark market of Unjha on a weekly basis while Rajkot market witnessed a little fall in its prices amid moderate trade but futures ended higher last week.

Coriander Seed
Coriander seed prices dropped in the physical markets amid poor demand last week but buying is likely to revive this week. At future trade prices of coriander seed, however, witnessed recovery in the past two sessions of the week but ended a little lower on a weekly basis.
Coriander for delivery in August ended at Rs 11830 per quintal on the NCDEX on Friday against Rs 12,016 per quintal a week earlier.

Turmeric
Turmeric prices ended mixed in the physical markets while futures ended flat at Rs 7700 per quintal. Turmeric market witnessed subdued demand from processors and traders as well. The market participants are waiting for the clear pictures of sowing trend as most of the farmers have opted other cops instead of turmeric in Maharashtra but good showing is reported in south India.
