Mumbai, 10 Feb (Commoditiescontrol): According to the Office of the Cane and Sugar Board, Thailand anticipates exporting 9 million tonnes of sugar in the production year 2022–2023, an increase of 17% from the previous year.
By crushing 106 million tonnes of sugarcane at the end of the season in March, Thailand anticipates producing 11.5 million tonnes of sugar, according to Samart Noiwan, director of the board's strategy and planning division.
According to him, Thailand consumes 2.5 million tonnes of sugar annually.
According to Samart, this year's sugarcane production has reached 100 million tonnes for the first time since 2019 as a result of favourable worldwide prices that encouraged farmers to cultivate more crops and adequate rains.
Thailand produced 10.15 million tonnes of sugar in 2021–2022, crushed 92.07 million tonnes, and shipped 7.69 million tonnes of sugar abroad.
