MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) – India oilmeals export during the month of November rose 10% at 20.43 lakh tonnes versus 18.55 lakh tonnes a year ago, according to the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA).
The major oilmeals export destinations were Vietnam, South Korea, Thailand, France and Iran.
Exports of oilmeals to Iran rose sharply by 768.6% at 1.99 lakh tonnes followed by 132.5% surge at 1.40 lakh tonnes to France. Shipments to Thailand jumped up by 66.9% at 2.12 lakh tonnes. Exports to South Korea and Vietnam was up by 0.9% and 10.5% at 5.5 lakh tonnes and 3.55 lakh tonnes respectively.
Soymeal export in November month rose by over 44% at 2.17 lakh tonnes against 1.50 lakh tonnes a month ago in October. Rapeseed meal export also rose 61% month-on-month at 0.56 lakh tonnes and castor meal gained by more than 68% at 0.30 lakh tonnes.
Note: SEA has revised or corrected October soymeal exports to 1.5 lakh tonnes from earlier 0.34 lakh tonnes.
The export of rapeseed meal during April-November is sharply increased to 745,901 (392,463) tons in first eight months, almost doubled mainly exported to South Korea, Vietnam and Thailand, said B.V Mehta, Executive Director, SEA.
Mehta said, “We understand from Ministry of Commerce/Export Inspection Council of India that China will resume import of Rapeseed Meal from India. Those five units already approved by General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China, GACC ( formely AQSIQ) will able to resume the export of Rapeseed Meal to China once their registration with Chinese Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) is done which is cumbersome process and takes a long time.”
About soymeal export prospects to China, Mehta told, “Resumption of export of Soybean Meal from India to China, may take some more time as Chinese GACC team likely to visit during current month to inspect/approve the units.”
Also, Iranian market has opened up for Indian soybean meal. During current year from April to November 2018, about 2.0 lakh tons of soybean meal shipped against last year just 23,000 tons, supporting export of oilmeals from India, Mehta noted.
