New Delhi, 23 July (Commoditiescontrol) Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls are very likely to continue over west coast during next 2-3 days with reduction thereafter, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday.
As per the IMD’s latest report, isolated extremely heavy falls are also very likely over Konkan & Goa & adjoining Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during 23rd-24th July with reduction thereafter and over Coastal and south Interior Karnataka, today.
Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls is expected to continue over Gujarat state till 23rd with increase from 24th July. It is likely to increase to fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls on 24th to 26th July, 2021 and Isolated extremely heavy falls also likely over Gujarat region 25th July.
Fairly Widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls likely to continue over east and adjoining central India during 23nd-25th July with reduction thereafter.
Isolated extremely heavy rainfalls are also likely over West Madhya Pradesh on 23rd and 24th July and east Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Odisha on Friday.
Increase in rainfall activity over northwest India is likely over western Himalayan region from 25th July and over adjoining plains from 26th July.
Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls is likely over these areas from 25th and 26th July respectively.
Isolated extremely heavy rainfalls are also likely over Uttarakhand on 25th and 26th July and over west Uttar Pradesh on 26th July.
Very light to light rainfall at isolated places is very likely to continue till 25th over Delhi and increase from 26th July, said IMD.
As per the IMD, rainfall activity along the west coast, central and adjoining east coast of India Rainfall recorded (from 0830 hours IST of yesterday to 0830 hours IST of today) (7 cm or more): Mahabaleshwar-60(breaks all time past rainfall record) ; Kolhapur40; Londa-38; Belagavi-34; Betul-28; Shivmogga-27; Uttar Kannada-24; Sanguem; Hoshangabad-21 each; Sanquelim-18; Kodagu-17; Nilgiris, Chandbali, Haveri-16 each; Quepem, Matheran, Kolhapur, Belgaum, Dewas -15 each; Puri, Idukki-13 each; Rajgarh14; Coimbatore, Chikkamagaluru, Paradip, Chindwara -12 each; Wayanad, Ponda, Hanamkonda, Canacona -11 each; Gondia, Nizamabad Rajsamand, Ashokanagar, Panna10 each; Theni, Gwalior, Harda, Katni, Tikamgar-9 each; Ajmer, Kozhikode, Dakshin Kannada, Bhind, Shajapur, Damoh-8 each; Dharwad, Karwar, Honavar, Nagpur Sonegaon, Vijayawada, Narsapur Vijaywada-7 each.
As per the IMD, the monsoon trough at mean sea level runs south of its normal position. It is likely to continue to remain south of the normal position during 2-3 days.
A well marked low pressure area lies over Northwest Bay of Bengal off north Odisha and West Bengal coasts, said IMD. The associated cyclonic circulation extends upto mid-tropospheric level. It is likely to move slowly west-northwest wards during next 2-days. Offshore trough at mean sea level runs from Maharashtra coast to north Kerala coast. It is likely to weaken from 26th July.
