India kharif crop area 997.08 lakh hectare as on August 13, 2021

New Delhi (Commoditiescontrol) India’s area under kharif crops recorded at 997.08 lakh hectares as on 13 August, 2021. According to the data released by the Union Agriculture Ministry on Friday, sowing activities were picking up in last week. However, total area is still lower than 1015.15 lakh ha of corresponding period of last season. The acreage of rice, oilseeds, coarse cereals and cotton is still lower than area of corresponding period of last year. But the acreage of pulses improved slightly.



Rice



Rice: About 349.24 lakh ha area coverage has been reported compared to normal of corresponding week (336.92 lakh ha). Thus 12.32 lakh ha more area has been covered compared to normal of corresponding week. Higher area is reported from the States of Madhya Pradesh (9.32 lakh ha), Telangana (5.55 lakh ha), Maharashtra (1.74 lakh ha), Tamil Nadu (1.57 lakh ha), Jharkhand (1.54 lakh ha), Bihar (0.87 lakh ha), Gujarat (0.57 lakh ha), Uttar Pradesh (0.37 lakh ha), Haryana (0.35 lakh ha), Punjab (0.33 lakh ha), Jammu & Kashmir (0.05 lakh ha) and Arunachal Pradesh (0.04 lakh ha). Less area is reported from the States of Odisha (3.48 lakh ha), Assam (1.91 lakh ha), Chhattisgarh (1.87 lakh ha), Andhra Pradesh (0.74 lakh ha), West Bengal (0.56 lakh ha), Nagaland (0.53 lakh ha), Karnataka (0.50 lakh ha), Manipur (0.10 lakh ha), Kerala (0.09 lakh ha), Tripura (0.09 lakh ha), Rajasthan (0.06 lakh ha), Meghalaya (0.03 lakh ha) and Goa (0.02 lakh ha).



Pulses



Pulses: About 126.98 lakh ha area coverage has been reported compared to normal of corresponding week (127.40 lakh ha). Thus 0.42 lakh ha less area has been covered compared to normal of corresponding week. Higher area is reported from the States of Karnataka (3.67 lakh ha), Haryana (0.60 lakh ha), Jharkhand (0.58 lakh ha), Gujarat (0.20 lakh ha), Nagaland (0.08 lakh ha), Uttarakhand (0.07 lakh ha), Bihar (0.06 lakh ha), Maharashtra (0.04 lakh ha), Tamil Nadu (0.01 lakh ha) and Assam (0.01 lakh ha). Less area is reported from the States of Rajasthan (2.04 lakh ha), Madhya Pradesh (1.75 lakh ha), Odisha (0.60 lakh ha), Andhra Pradesh (0.57 lakh ha), Telangana (0.29 lakh ha), Chhattisgarh (0.24 lakh ha), Himachal Pradesh (0.09 lakh ha), Punjab (0.06 lakh ha), Arunachal Pradesh (0.04 lakh ha), Tripura (0.03 lakh ha), Sikkim (0.02 lakh ha) and Manipur (0.01 lakh ha).



Coarse cereals



Coarse cereals: About 163.04 lakh ha area coverage has been reported compared to normal of corresponding week (168.19 lakh ha). Thus 5.15 lakh ha less area has been covered compared to normal of corresponding week. Higher area is reported from the States of Karnataka (2.09 lakh ha), Madhya Pradesh (1.23 lakh ha), Tamil Nadu (0.41 lakh ha), Assam (0.19 lakh ha), Uttar Pradesh (0.10 lakh ha) and Jammu & Kashmir (0.07 lakh ha). Less area is reported from the States of Maharashtra (2.91 lakh ha), Rajasthan (2.74 lakh ha), Telangana (1.50 lakh ha), Haryana (1.43 lakh ha), Gujarat (0.38 lakh ha), Himachal Pradesh (0.30 lakh ha), Bihar (0.24 lakh ha), Andhra Pradesh (0.21 lakh ha), Chhattisgarh (0.08 lakh ha), Jharkhand (0.06 lakh ha), Uttarakhand (0.04 lakh ha), Odisha (0.03 lakh ha), West Bengal (0.02 lakh ha) and Punjab (0.02 lakh ha).



Oilseeds



Oilseeds: About 180.14 lakh ha area coverage has been reported compared to normal of corresponding week (169.26 lakh ha). Thus 10.88 lakh ha more area has been covered compared to normal of corresponding week. Higher area is reported from the States of Maharashtra (5.68 lakh ha), Gujarat (3.49 lakh ha), Rajasthan (1.44 lakh ha), Karnataka (1.29 lakh ha), Uttar Pradesh (0.49 lakh ha), Tamil Nadu (0.47 lakh ha), Nagaland (0.18 lakh ha), Haryana (0.08 lakh ha), Madhya Pradesh (0.08 lakh ha), Bihar (0.08 lakh ha), Tripura (0.04 lakh ha), Manipur (0.03 lakh ha), West Bengal (0.02 lakh ha), Meghalaya (0.02 lakh ha) and Mizoram (0.01 lakh ha). Less area is reported from the States of Telangana (0.86 lakh ha), Chhattisgarh (0.69 lakh ha), Andhra Pradesh (0.41 lakh ha), Jharkhand (0.09 lakh ha), Punjab (0.05 lakh ha), Jammu & Kashmir (0.03 lakh ha), Odisha (0.03 lakh ha), Himachal Pradesh (0.01 lakh ha), Sikkim (0.01 lakh ha), Arunachal Pradesh (0.01 lakh ha) and Assam (0.01 lakh ha).



Sugarcane



Sugarcane: About 54.52 lakh ha area coverage has been reported compared to normal of corresponding week (51.37 lakh ha). Thus 3.15 lakh ha more area has been covered compared to normal of corresponding week. Higher area is reported from the States of Maharashtra (3.01 lakh ha), Karnataka (0.65 lakh ha), Gujarat (0.49 lakh ha), Uttar Pradesh (0.43 lakh ha), Haryana (0.06 lakh ha), Madhya Pradesh (0.04 lakh ha), Uttarakhand (0.04 lakh ha), Assam (0.04 lakh ha), Odisha (0.03 lakh ha) and Punjab (0.03 lakh ha). Less area is reported from the States of Tamil Nadu (0.86 lakh ha), Andhra Pradesh (0.47 lakh ha), Chhattisgarh (0.21 lakh ha), Telangana (0.13 lakh ha) and West Bengal (0.02 lakh ha).



Jute & Mesta



Jute & Mesta: About 6.99 lakh ha area coverage has been reported compared to normal of corresponding week (7.20 lakh ha). Thus 0.21 lakh ha less area has been covered compared to normal of corresponding week. Higher area is reported from the States of Tripura (0.04 lakh ha) and Meghalaya (0.03 lakh ha). Less area is reported from the States of Bihar (0.11 lakh ha), West Bengal (0.09 lakh ha), Andhra Pradesh (0.03 lakh ha), Nagaland (0.02 lakh ha), Odisha (0.01 lakh ha) and Assam (0.01 lakh ha).



Cotton



Cotton: About 116.17 lakh ha area coverage has been reported compared to normal of corresponding week (116.38 lakh ha). Thus 0.21 lakh ha less area has been covered compared to normal of corresponding week. Higher area is reported from the States of Telangana (4.71 lakh ha), Karnataka (0.60 lakh ha), Rajasthan (0.59 lakh ha), Haryana (0.42 lakh ha) and Odisha (0.36 lakh ha). Less area is reported from the States of Gujarat (2.79 lakh ha), Maharashtra (2.31 lakh ha), Andhra Pradesh (1.07 lakh ha), Punjab (0.62 lakh ha) and Madhya Pradesh (0.23 lakh ha).
