India kharif crop 1043.87 lakh hectare as on August 20, 2021

New Delhi (Commoditiescontrol) India’s total kharif crops have been sown on 1043.87 lakh hectares as on 20 August 2021. The sowing area still lower by 16.49 lakh ha against the sowing of 1060.37 lakh ha of corresponding week of last season. The area coverage increased under Pulses, Sugarcane and Jute & Mesta. However, the area under oilseeds, rice, Coarse Cereals and Cotton still lower than corresponding period of last year. The significant improvement in progress of area coverage has been observed with the improvement of monsoon rains.



Rice



About 374.03 lakh ha area coverage has been reported compared to normal of corresponding week (358.89 lakh ha). Thus 15.14 lakh ha more area has been covered compared to normal of corresponding week. Higher area is reported from the States of Madhya Pradesh (9.54 lakh ha), Telangana (6.88 lakh ha), Jharkhand (1.95 lakh ha), Maharashtra (1.61 lakh ha), Tamil Nadu (0.98 lakh ha), Haryana (0.61 lakh ha), Manipur (0.60 lakh ha), Gujarat (0.37 lakh ha), West Bengal (0.32 lakh ha), Rajasthan (0.30 lakh ha), Punjab (0.22 lakh ha), Uttar Pradesh (0.13 lakh ha), Himachal Pradesh (0.07 lakh ha), Arunachal Pradesh (0.04 lakh ha), Jammu & Kashmir (0.03 lakh ha), Mizoram (0.02 lakh ha), Karnataka (0.01 lakh ha) and Uttarakhand (0.01 lakh ha). Less area is reported from the States of Odisha (3.47 lakh ha), Assam (2.13 lakh ha), Andhra Pradesh (1.23 lakh ha), Chhattisgarh (1.15 lakh ha), Tripura (0.61 lakh ha), Nagaland (0.50 lakh ha), Kerala (0.10 lakh ha), Meghalaya (0.03 lakh ha) and Goa (0.02 lakh ha).

Pulses



About 134.23 lakh ha area coverage has been reported compared to normal of corresponding week (131.12 lakh ha). Thus 3.11 lakh ha more area has been covered compared to normal of corresponding week. Higher area is reported from the States of Karnataka (3.94 lakh ha), Rajasthan (1.09 lakh ha), Haryana (0.59 lakh ha), Bihar (0.13 lakh ha), Uttar Pradesh (0.11 lakh ha), Gujarat (0.11 lakh ha), Nagaland (0.08 lakh ha), Uttarakhand (0.06 lakh ha) and Maharashtra (0.02 lakh ha). Less area is reported from the States of Madhya Pradesh (1.76 lakh ha), Odisha (0.62 lakh ha), Andhra Pradesh (0.48 lakh ha), Telangana (0.32 lakh ha), Chhattisgarh (0.29 lakh ha), Himachal Pradesh (0.09 lakh ha), Punjab (0.07 lakh ha), Arunachal Pradesh (0.05 lakh ha), West Bengal (0.04 lakh ha), Tripura (0.03 lakh ha), Sikkim (0.02 lakh ha), Tamil Nadu (0.01 lakh ha) and Manipur (0.01 lakh ha).

Coarse cereals



About 169.06 lakh ha area coverage has been reported compared to normal of corresponding week (170.42 lakh ha). Thus 1.35 lakh ha less area has been covered compared to normal of corresponding week. Higher area is reported from the States of Karnataka (2.58 lakh ha), Madhya Pradesh (1.78 lakh ha), Himachal Pradesh (1.46 lakh ha), Tamil Nadu (0.38 lakh ha), Uttar Pradesh (0.24 lakh ha), Assam (0.20 lakh ha), Odisha (0.07 lakh ha) and Jammu & Kashmir (0.06 lakh ha). Less area is reported from the States of Maharashtra (3.10 lakh ha), Telangana (1.62 lakh ha), Rajasthan (1.60 lakh ha), Haryana (1.34 lakh ha), Gujarat (0.39 lakh ha), Bihar (0.28 lakh ha), Andhra Pradesh (0.23 lakh ha), Jharkhand (0.13 lakh ha), Chhattisgarh (0.08 lakh ha), Uttarakhand (0.04 lakh ha), West Bengal (0.03 lakh ha), Arunachal Pradesh (0.02 lakh ha) and Punjab (0.01 lakh ha).

Oilseeds



About 187.88 lakh ha area coverage has been reported compared to normal of corresponding week (173.53 lakh ha). Thus 14.35 lakh ha more area has been covered compared to normal of corresponding week. Higher area is reported from the States of Maharashtra (5.92 lakh ha), Gujarat (3.71 lakh ha), Madhya Pradesh (2.81 lakh ha), Rajasthan (2.24 lakh ha), Karnataka (1.13 lakh ha), Tamil Nadu (0.44 lakh ha), Uttar Pradesh (0.28 lakh ha), Nagaland (0.18 lakh ha), Haryana (0.08 lakh ha), Bihar (0.07 lakh ha), Tripura (0.04 lakh ha), Manipur (0.03 lakh ha), West Bengal (0.02 lakh ha), Meghalaya (0.02 lakh ha) and Mizoram (0.01 lakh ha). Less area is reported from the States of Telangana (0.86 lakh ha), Chhattisgarh (0.67 lakh ha), Andhra Pradesh (0.53 lakh ha), Jharkhand (0.09 lakh ha), Punjab (0.05 lakh ha), Jammu & Kashmir (0.03 lakh ha), Odisha (0.02 lakh ha), Assam (0.01 lakh ha), Arunachal Pradesh (0.01 lakh ha), Himachal Pradesh (0.01 lakh ha), Uttarakhand (0.01 lakh ha) and Sikkim (0.01 lakh ha).

Sugarcane



About 54.63 lakh ha area coverage has been reported compared to normal of corresponding week (51.44 lakh ha). Thus 3.19 lakh ha more area has been covered compared to normal of corresponding week. Higher area is reported from the States of Maharashtra (3.01 lakh ha), Karnataka (0.62 lakh ha), Gujarat (0.49 lakh ha), Uttar Pradesh (0.41 lakh ha), Haryana (0.06 lakh ha), Madhya Pradesh (0.04 lakh ha), Uttarakhand (0.04 lakh ha), Assam (0.04 lakh ha), Odisha (0.03 lakh ha) and Punjab (0.03 lakh ha). Less area is reported from the States of Tamil Nadu (0.86 lakh ha), Andhra Pradesh (0.47 lakh ha), Chhattisgarh (0.21 lakh ha), Telangana (0.05 lakh ha) and West Bengal (0.02 lakh ha).

Jute & Mesta



About 7.00 lakh ha area coverage has been reported compared to normal of corresponding week (7.02 lakh ha). Thus 0.02 lakh ha less area has been covered compared to normal of corresponding week. Higher area is reported from the States of Assam (0.05 lakh ha), Tripura (0.04 lakh ha) and Meghalaya (0.03 lakh ha). Less area is reported from the States of West Bengal (0.05 lakh ha), Bihar (0.03 lakh ha), Andhra Pradesh (0.02 lakh ha) and Nagaland (0.01 lakh ha).

Cotton



About 117.04 lakh ha area coverage has been reported compared to normal of corresponding week (118.06 lakh ha). Thus 1.01 lakh ha less area has been covered compared to normal of corresponding week. Higher area is reported from the States of Telangana (2.41 lakh ha), Karnataka (1.19 lakh ha), Rajasthan (0.77 lakh ha), Odisha (0.40 lakh ha) and Haryana (0.37 lakh ha). Less area is reported from the States of Gujarat (2.74 lakh ha), Maharashtra (2.10 lakh ha), Andhra Pradesh (0.70 lakh ha), Punjab (0.62 lakh ha) and Madhya Pradesh (0.13 lakh ha).
