MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) – India government has further extended import duty on Kabuli chana from 40% to 60% in a bid to curb import and support domestic prices due to higher production.

Further the government has also broken down the Harmonized System (HS) code of chickpeas into Kabuli chana and now HS code is 07132010. Earlier Kabuli chana and Chana enjoys a single HS code as 071320, which will now consider only for chana.

The Harmonized System code is an internationally standardized system of names and numbers to classify traded products.
