Muzaffarnagar, July 13 (Commoditiescontrol) Gur (Jaggery) prices rose at Muzaffarnagar, a major trading centre in north India on Wednesday in anticipation of improvement demand in the coming days. Prices of gur rose only Rs 5-10 per quintal today but further firmer tone is expected, said a trader.
Muzaffarnagar and adjoining area received rains today that’s why thin business activities were there in the market but prices were quoted firm.
Chaku variety of gur was at Rs 3,000-3,020 per 100kg while purkaji was quoted at Rs 2,980 per 100kg.
Around 10 kah bags of gur (40kg each) are there still in the stocks and new crushing season is more than two months away, therefore, stocks are sufficient to meet the demand in this period, as per the trader.
There were 15 lakh bags of gur in the cold storages of which around 5 lakh bags have been lifted and 10 lakh bags are still in the stocks,”said Arun Khandelwal, Chairman, Federation of Gur Traders.
