Mumbai, June 24 (Commodities Control):Peanut prices in Gujarat witnessed a slight increase for the second consecutive day due to decreased local arrivals and sustained demand. However, the arrival of peanuts from Uttar Pradesh's Mainpuri region in Saurashtra has not yet translated into trade due to the relatively higher prices of the incoming produce.
A total of approximately 98,000 bags of peanuts arrived in Saurashtra and North Gujarat today. Gondal Mandi witnessed the arrival of 10,000 bags and had a pending stock of 5,000 bags, leading to a trade of around 12,000 bags. Average quality peanuts traded at Rs. 1,156-1,236 per 20 kg, while the best quality fetched Rs. 1,161-1,306 per 20 kg. New peanuts traded at Rs. 1,150-1,296 per 20 kg for 926 bags.
Traders in Gondal reported the arrival of two truckloads of peanuts from Mainpuri, but the higher prices and quality variations have deterred immediate trade. Rajkot Mandi received 6,500 bags, with average quality prices ranging from Rs. 1,100-1,225 and best quality prices at Rs. 1,100-1,277 per 20 kg.
In North Gujarat, Deesa Mandi recorded the arrival of 37,814 bags, with an average price of Rs. 1,021-1,411 per 20 kg. Palanpur Mandi saw around 25,000 bags arrive, priced at Rs. 1,100-1,430 per 20 kg. Panthawada Mandi received 13,150 bags, trading at Rs. 1,050-1,405 per 20 kg.
The Gujarat peanut market is currently experiencing a dynamic phase with rising prices in the local market and the arrival of new stock from Uttar Pradesh. The market's future trajectory will likely depend on the interplay between local supply, demand, and the pricing dynamics of the incoming produce from Mainpuri.
