Mumbai, June 28 (CommoditiesControl): Peanut prices experienced a marginal decline of 5-10 rupees per 20 kg in Saurashtra today, attributed to sluggish trade in peanut oil and reduced arrivals due to rainfall and the onset of the sowing season.
In Gondal Mandi, approximately 8380 bags were traded out of the 9000 bags that arrived, with average quality peanuts priced at Rs 1141-1301 per 20 kg and best quality at Rs 1181-1351 per 20 kg. New peanuts saw a trade of around 660 bags at Rs 1151-1301 per 20 kg.
Rajkot Mandi witnessed the arrival of 4500 bags, with average quality prices ranging from Rs 1100-1240 per 20 kg and best quality at Rs 1110-1269 per 20 kg. Total arrivals in Saurashtra amounted to 20000-22000 bags.
Rainfall also impacted arrivals in the North Gujarat region, particularly in Deesa Mandi, where 16110 bags arrived with an average price of Rs 1250-1405 per 20 kg. Palanpur Mandi saw arrivals of around 15000 bags priced at Rs 1050-1400 per 20 kg, while Panthawada Mandi experienced a complete halt in arrivals due to the rain.
The peanut market in Saurashtra is currently experiencing downward pressure on prices due to a combination of factors, including subdued demand for peanut oil, reduced arrivals caused by rainfall and sowing activities, and regional variations in supply and demand dynamics. Market participants are closely monitoring these developments to assess their impact on future price trends and trading volumes.
