Mumbai, May 11 (CommoditiesControl): Groundnut prices have increased by Rs 5-10 per 20 kg today, driven by improved demand for groundnut oil. Traders report that while lower quality peanuts are being sold for crushing due to heat-related deterioration, higher quality peanuts are being retained for seeds.

Increased demand from brands has boosted groundnut oil prices, with loose groundnut oil trading at Rs 1500 per 10 kg. Brands have purchased 1000 tonnes of groundnut oil from Jamnagar, with additional purchases of 200-300 tonnes in Gondal, Amreli, and Upleta.

Gondal Mandi saw arrivals of 15000 bags (35kg each), with average quality peanuts priced at Rs 1231-1346 per 20 kg and best quality at Rs 1236-1351. Rajkot Mandi received 6000 bags, with average quality priced at Rs 1151-1308 and best quality at Rs 1171-1329. Overall, Saurashtra received approximately 25,000-30,000 bags of peanuts today.
