Mumbai, June 22 (CommoditiesControl): Peanut prices in Saurashtra experienced a notable increase of 10-15 rupees per 20 kg today, driven by robust demand from crushing mills and limited arrivals due to the closure of key markets in North Gujarat for Poonam. Saurashtra witnessed an estimated arrival of 40,000-45,000 bags.
In Gondal Mandi, approximately 18,000 bags were traded out of the 20,000-22,000 bags that arrived. Average quality peanuts fetched 1151-1236 rupees per 20 kg, while the best quality traded at 1161-1296 rupees per 20 kg. New peanuts, with 1450 bags traded, ranged from 1146-1291 rupees per 20 kg.
Rajkot market saw the arrival of 7,500 bags, with average quality prices at 1100-1270 rupees and best quality at 1100-1312 rupees per 20 kg.
The peanut market in Saurashtra is currently characterized by strong demand from crushing mills, limited supply due to market closures, and a consequent upward pressure on prices. Market participants will closely monitor the supply situation in the coming days as North Gujarat markets reopen, which could influence price trends in the near future.
