MUMBAI, 5 Jul (Commoditiescontrol): In a remarkable achievement, Shamli district has secured the top position in average sugarcane productivity per hectare in Uttar Pradesh, with an impressive yield of 1036.04 quintals per hectare. Officials from the Sugarcane Department expressed their delight over this accomplishment, as reported by Amar Ujala.
Shamli is home to over 1.5 lakh sugarcane farmers who supply their produce to the Shamli, Unnao, and Thana Bhawan sugar mills. Each year, the Sugar Commissioner’s office releases rankings of districts based on average sugarcane productivity across Uttar Pradesh.
According to the district sugarcane officer, the results are derived from crop cutting experiments conducted by departmental officials. Shamli has reclaimed the first position in average sugarcane yield per hectare, a title it has consistently held for the past six years. Following Shamli, Muzaffarnagar secured the second position with an average yield of 953.56 quintals per hectare, while Meerut came third with 919.72 quintals per hectare.
The district sugarcane officer commended all the sugarcane farmers in Shamli for their hard work and dedication. He also acknowledged the crucial role played by departmental employees in securing this top position for the district.
