MUMBAI, 11 Jun (Commoditiescontrol): France's farm ministry announced on Tuesday that it has maintained its monthly estimate of the area sown with soft wheat for the 2024 harvest at 4.40 million hectares. This figure represents a 7.6% decrease compared to the area sown last year.
Meanwhile, the farm ministry has also forecast a 10.7% on year decline in country's 2023 winter barley production at 8.6 million metric tons. However, the production is 2.6% above the average of the past five years.
In its first production estimates for this year's harvest, the ministry projected the winter rapeseed crop at 4.2 million tons, down 1.2% from 2023 but up 11.5% from the 5-year average.
