MUMBAI, 2 Jul (Commoditiescontrol): In a strategic move to accelerate the progress of the nation's agricultural sector, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan convened a high-level meeting on Monday with a delegation from Chhattisgarh, including the state’s Agriculture Minister, Ramvichar Netam. The meeting, held at Krishi Bhavan in New Delhi, is part of a series of state-focused discussions initiated by Minister Chouhan.
The dialogue centered around boosting the production and promotion of pulses, oilseeds, and horticulture in Chhattisgarh. A broad range of topics pertinent to agriculture and farmers’ welfare were also discussed. Minister Chouhan underscored the critical role of farmers and the agricultural sector under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, assuring continued support from the central government to Chhattisgarh.
Chouhan and Netam reviewed several key schemes and programs under the Agriculture Ministry, such as the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, and the Oil Palm Mission. The Union Minister emphasized that Chhattisgarh's farmers would not encounter any difficulties at the central level, highlighting the robust collaboration between the central and state governments.
The Union Minister reiterated the Centre’s commitment to promoting pulses and oilseeds and identified significant opportunities for expanding maize and soybean cultivation in Chhattisgarh. He assured that there would be a sufficient supply of essential agricultural inputs like fertilizers and seeds for the upcoming Kharif season, directing officials to ensure their availability.
Also in attendance were Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Secretary Sanjeev Chopra and senior officials from both the Central and State Agriculture and Horticulture departments. This high-level meeting reflects the government’s concerted efforts to enhance agricultural productivity and ensure farmer welfare through effective policy implementation and state collaboration.
