MUMBAI, 15 Jun (Commoditiescontrol): The cotton auction in the Karaikal regulated market is set to commence on June 22, according to official sources. The district agriculture marketing committee is encouraging farmers to take advantage of this opportunity to secure fair prices for their cotton.
"We have informed both potential buyers and farmers. Local traders often deceive farmers with inaccurate weighing. However, at our regulated market, we use scientific weighing machines to ensure farmers receive proper compensation for their quality cotton. There will be no middlemen involved," explained J. Senthil, Secretary of the Karaikal Marketing Committee.
Senthil emphasized that this system benefits both farmers and traders. "Farmers can sell their cotton directly, avoiding middlemen, while traders can find high-quality cotton in one location without the need to search elsewhere," he added.
The committee's initiative aims to provide a transparent and efficient marketplace, ensuring fair transactions and better prices for the farming community.
