Mumbai, May 6 (CommoditiesControl): Clove prices in the domestic market, particularly in Kottayam, have maintained stability over the past fortnight, signaling a steady trend amid evolving import pattern. In Kottayam, imported clove prices from various origins, including Comoros, Madagascar, and Sri Lanka, have remained consistent, with prices ranging from Rs. 840 to Rs. 880 per kilogram. Similarly, domestic clove prices in Kottayam have also remained stable, fluctuating between Rs. 900 and Rs. 920 per kilogram.
The stability in domestic prices comes despite an increase in imports, which has bolstered supply levels. However, the potential impact of heightened imports on domestic prices remains uncertain. It's worth noting that the sharp rise in prices of other spices such as pepper and cardamom is anticipated to provide support to clove prices in the domestic market.
In Shimoga, clove prices stood unchanged from the previous session, maintaining a range between Rs. 920 and Rs. 940 per kilogram. Additionally, clove stems retained their price at Rs. 125 per kilogram in Kottayam, aligning with the levels observed in the preceding session.
