Mumbai, 20 May 2024 (Commoditiescontrol): Masur (lentil) prices in major Indian markets displayed mixed trends on Monday. In the mandi trade, good quality arrivals supported prices in Beena, while smaller grain and inferior quality led to lower prices in Ganjbasoda. Bilty trade witnessed an uptick in Delhi but a slight decline in Bareilly. Markets in Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai remained largely closed due to ongoing elections.
Market sources reported subdued demand, However price mangaed move up in Uttar Pradesh supported by goverment purchase at MSP.
Meanwhile, in Canada, spot prices dipped to $565 per metric ton, down from $572 the previous week. This decline is attributed to stock liquidation by traders in anticipation of increased acreage.
Looking ahead, prices are expected to maintain a positive bias in the near term due to firm Tur prices and goverment purchase at MSP . Prices have seen a minor uptick over the last two sessions, but a significant increase is unlikely due to ample domestic supply of desi and imported masur.
