MUMBAI, 28 Jun (Commoditiescontrol): The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) reported a substantial increase in field pea exports for April, with 73,700 metric tons (MT) loaded for export through licensed terminal and primary elevators. These elevators are mandated to report all grain movements to the CGC.
However, it is essential to recognize that CGC's data may not perfectly match official export statistics. The CGC accounts for the product when it is loaded onto ships, while Statistics Canada bases its calculations on the bill of lading date. Additionally, the CGC data does not include exports from non-reporting locations.
For the current marketing year, bulk export loadings for field peas have reached 1,840,300 MT, marking a 12% increase from the 1,646,200 MT loaded during the previous marketing year.
April's figures showed significant growth, with export loadings more than doubling from the previous month's 23,800 MT. This number also represents a 1% increase compared to the 73,000 MT shipped in April of the previous year.
This surge underscores the growing demand and robust market performance for Canadian field peas, indicating a positive trend for the agricultural sector.
