Mumbai, 03 Jul 2024 (Commoditiescontrol): Chana prices have returned to declining trend as buyers remain inactive while abundance of yellow peas, which are substituting chana in consumer demand, applied pressure.
In international trade, in Mumbai, CNF quote was not available for for Tanzanian origin chana, while Australian origin chana remained steady at USD 915 per metric tonne. Imported chana of Tanzania and Australian origin chana quoted steady at Rs 6,250 and Rs 6,900 per quintal, respectively. Prices of all expenses paid (Bilty) Desi chana have lost between Rs 25-100 at major trading centres. At Bikaner market Desi Chana quoted Rs 100 softer due to a lack of buyer interest.
In Delhi market, prices exxtended their fall declining below crucial level of Rs 7,000 per quintal. Today, at Delhi, Chana prices lost Rs 75 per quintal for both Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh lines, with extremely low trade activity.
Maharashtra and Karnataka markets saw stable prices after a weak session, despite lower arrivals in mandis, which supported prices.
Sellers' inactivity is expected to keep prices in a wide range with a downward bias. Delhi prices are at a crucial level, and a breakdown from here could maintain weak sentiment in the coming days.
