Indore, June 18 (Commodities Control): On Tuesday, the mandis of Madhya Pradesh recorded an increase in cotton arrivals. Concurrently, the prices of cotton candy have improved, while the average prices of Kapas and cottonseed remained stable.

Today, the arrival of Kapas in the state's mandis increased by 300 bales compared to Monday, totaling 600 to 700 bales, each bale weighing 170 kg. On Monday, arrivals were down by 300 bales.

During trading, the average price of Kapas in Madhya Pradesh remained stable at Rs 6000 to Rs 7200 per quintal. Similarly, the price of cottonseed also held steady, ranging between Rs 2850 to Rs 3150 per quintal.

After experiencing a Rs 200 drop on Monday, cotton candy prices rebounded by Rs 200 today. The prices for 29 MM 75 RD cotton in Madhya Pradesh are now quoted between Rs 55600 to Rs 56500 per candy, each candy weighing 356 kg. Prices for 28.5 MM cotton also rose by Rs 200, now trading at Rs 55400 to Rs 55800 per candy.

Millers attribute these price changes to the USDA report, which indicated adequate supply amid weak demand, affecting cotton candy prices.

In some areas of Malwa and Nimar, farmers are struggling with high temperatures, reaching 38 degrees Celsius due to lack of rain. Farmers are striving to save their cotton crops planted during the summer. In Dhar district, where Kapas is to be sown over 1.10 lakh hectares, farmers are concerned about potential losses due to insufficient rainfall. While those with adequate water supply are resorting to drip irrigation, many fields are showing signs of heat stress.

The Agriculture Department has advised farmers to delay Kapas sowing until after June 25-30 or until temperatures decrease. Early sowing under current conditions may lead to adverse effects on seed germination and plant health, increasing the risk of pink bollworm infestation.

Arrival and Prices of Kapas in MP Markets:
- Khetia: (arrival 25 quintals): Rs 3000 to Rs 7320
- Sendhwa: (arrival 24 quintals): Rs 6500 to Rs 6600
- Barwani: (arrival 16 quintals): Rs 7150 to Rs 7300
- Kukshi: (arrival 11 quintals): Rs 7050 to Rs 7050
- Anjad: (arrival 5 quintals): Rs 6950 to Rs 6950 - Alirajpur: (arrival 3 quintals): Rs 6700 to Rs 6700
- Sailana: (arrival 2 quintals): Rs 6000 to Rs 6000
