Mumbai, May 27 (CommoditiesControl): Imported clove prices in the Kottayam market have stabilized after experiencing a rise in the previous week. The current prices are as follows:
- Comoros: Rs 880-900 per kilogram
- Madagascar: Rs 900-920 per kilogram
- Sri Lanka: Rs 890-910 per kilogram
Domestic clove prices in Kottayam have also remained stable, ranging between Rs 980 and Rs 1,020 per kilogram.
In Shimoga, clove prices have increased slightly, with a kilogram now costing between Rs 1,020 and Rs 1,040, up Rs 20 per kg from the previous session. Clove stems in Kottayam are priced at Rs 130 per kilogram, consistent with previous sessions.
The Department of Commerce recently released import data for March, showing a total of 2,636 MT of clove imports, down 11% year-on-year. However, for the period from April to March, total imports were reported at 23,689 MT, a 32% increase over the same period last year.
This stabilization in prices, following the recent rise, indicates a balance in the market driven by import levels and steady demand. Despite the fluctuations in import volumes, the market has found a level of stability that may persist in the near term.
