Mumbai, May 17 (Commodities Control): Small cardamom prices in major markets have seen a consecutive decline for the second session, slipping below the Rs 2,000 per kilogram mark after a sustained period of stability. The downturn is attributed to weakened demand at higher price levels, according to market reports.
During today's trading session, demand remained subdued, exerting downward pressure on prices, local sources revealed. The average price for small cardamom was recorded at Rs 1,966-1,984 per kilogram, down from Rs 2,008-2,010 per kilogram observed in the previous session. The highest reported price per kilogram stood at Rs 2,853, marking a decline from the previous session's Rs 2,871 per kilogram.

The offtake rate dipped to 93.1%, down from 97.1% previously, indicating subdued demand in the market.

Prices for 7 mm grades ranged from Rs 1,720 to Rs 1,780 per kilogram, while grades 7-8 mm were priced between Rs 1,900 and Rs 1,980 per kilogram.
