Ahmedabad, June 21 (Commodities Control): Chilli prices have exhibited a stable to weak trend in markets across the board. Buyers have expressed concern following ample rainfall in key chilli-growing regions, which has led to uncertainty over reduced acreage. Despite lower arrivals, prices have remained subdued due to lackluster demand. Sources report higher-than-anticipated seed sales, potentially contributing to a 10% decrease in acreage despite significant price declines.
In the latest update, arrivals totaled 71,000 bags, primarily sourced from cold storage facilities. Guntur reported 65,000 bags, marking a decrease of 5,000 bags from the previous session, while Warangal recorded 6,000 bags, down 2,000 bags.
Non-A/C bag arrivals are estimated to range between 15,000 to 18,000 bags per market. Looking ahead, prices are expected to maintain a narrow range with a slight downward inclination in the short term due to increased arrivals. However, adequate supply from full cold storage facilities and subdued export demand are likely to constrain any significant upward price movement.
