Mumbai, June 25 (CommoditiesControl): Cardamom prices in major markets experienced a slight decline as buyers remained inactive at higher price levels. The market is under pressure with arrivals totaling around 1.0 lakh kilograms, contributing to the price decrease. Despite this, lower rainfall activity in major growing districts—reported to be 42% below normal—might stabilize market sentiment. With the monsoon season just beginning, it is too early to make definitive predictions.
The average price per kilogram for cardamom ranged between Rs 2,280 and Rs 2,315, slightly down from the previous session's average of Rs 2,316 to Rs 2,321. The highest price per kilogram fell to Rs 3,136 from Rs 2,979 in the previous session.
Market arrivals saw a sharp decline, falling from 91,260 kg to 63,152 kg. The offtake also decreased, from 88,514 kg in the previous session to 61,849 kg. However, the offtake rate increased slightly to 97.9%, up from 97% in the previous two sessions.
Grade-specific rates remained low. Prices for 7 mm grades ranged from Rs 2,180 to Rs 2,260 per kg, grades 7-8 mm were priced between Rs 2,360 and Rs 2,440 per kg, and grades 8 mm and above ranged from Rs 2,600 to Rs 2,860 per kg.
The cardamom market continues to face challenges with fluctuating prices and inconsistent buyer activity, but ongoing weather patterns and market dynamics will likely play a crucial role in shaping future trends.
