Mumbai, July 12 (Commodities Control): Small cardamom prices have remained mostly stable, driven by strong buying activity at lower price levels. The onset of the wedding season in North India is expected to sustain high demand, further supporting prices.
The average price per kilogram was reported at Rs 2,300-2,315, consistent with the previous session's level of Rs 2,315. The highest price per kilogram was Rs 2,748, a decrease from Rs 2,906 in the previous session.
Today's arrivals were significantly higher at 74,476 kg, up from 32,656 kg in previous sessions due to the operation of two centers. The offtake was reported at 72,180 kg, an increase from 32,011 kg in the previous session. However, the offtake rate slightly decreased to 96.9% from 98.0% due to strong demand.
Grade-specific rates have risen in response to the increase in bulk grade prices. Prices for 7 mm grades range between Rs 2,130 and Rs 2,210 per kg, Rs 2,350 to Rs 2,460 for grades 7-8 mm, and Rs 2,580 to Rs 2,780 for grades 8 mm and above.
The stability in small cardamom prices, coupled with the strong buying interest and increased arrivals, indicates a robust market outlook. Traders expect demand to remain high, particularly with the wedding season boosting consumption in the coming weeks.
