Mumbai, 17 May 2024 (Commoditiescontrol): Kabuli chickpea prices in major mandis have increased on Friday trackomg gains in container prices, despite improved arrivals. Active trading was observed today, driven by stockist and exporter buing interest.
Container prices rose by Rs 200 per quintal, with a weekly recovery of Rs 400-500 per quintal. Increased demand is attributed to meeting export commitments.
At Indore market, Kabuli prices of various counts advanced by Rs 200 per quintal. In Mumbai, Sudan origin Kabuli strengthened by Rs 100 to trade at Rs 7,000 per quintal. Arrivals of around 6,000 bags, up by 1,500 bags from the previous session, were recorded.
Mandi prices for medium and best variety rose by Rs 100 per quintal, while prices of different count increased Rs 200 per quintal.
Trade expert believe container prices to stay high but rule out a sharp increase given the global market conditions.
