Mumbai, March 18th (Commoditiescontrol):Kabuli Chickpea prices increased during the week ended March 18th, 2023. Increased export demand from Gulf countries, Turkey & Sri Lanka in good quantity, around 150-200 containers, has contributed to the price rise. Additionally, the below-expectation new crop arrivals due to bad weather at producing centres helped prices to maintain firm tone.
Price of Kabuli Chickpea varieties 42-44 and 44-46 increased by Rs 600 per 100 kilograms each at the benchmark market of Indore. Similarly, the FOB rate for Kabuli Chickpeas with counts of 42-44 and 44-46 also rose by $30 to reach $1,415 per metric ton and $1,390 per ton, respectively.
Trend: Low trading activity is expected next week, due to which Kabuli Chickpea price is anticipated to vary between Rs 100-200 per 100 kilograms. Several markets from the Kabuli Chickpea producing belt of Madhya Pradesh will be shut for the Gangour festival. Maharashtra markets will also remain closed for Gudi Padwa, which is expected to result in the lower arrival pressure and, hence, support the prices.
