MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Kharif Moong sowing in the country marginally up compared to previous year.
According to most recent sowing data released by agriculture department, Moong acreage in the country as on July 26 up by 1.88% at 27.58 lakh hectares against 27.07 lakh hectares same period a year ago.
Improved acreage was witnessed in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh amid good rainfall reported in pockets of the following states. However, decreased in Karnataka and Maharashtra amid scanty rainfall and poor realization prompted farmers to shift to other better alternative.
The country has of crop in 2016-17 with kharif area sown was said to be at 33.96 lakh hectares.
