Uptrend Continues in Mustard Seed Prices On Strong Buying, Oil & Cake Gained

NEW DELHI (Commodities control) - Mustard seed prices extended upmove in mandis of producing states. The oil seed reached the high of Rs. 5630 per quintal. Mustard prices gained due to higher demand over the supplies and production. Recent government order on banning blending of cheaper edible oil into mustard oils also fuelled price rise. Mustard oil and oil cake prices gained in spot markets, as well.

Mustard seed traded at Rs. 5625-5630 per quintal (42 percent condition) in Jaipur market. Earlier mustard seed was priced at Rs. 5600-5605 per quintal. Mustard oil also traded higher, priced at Rs. 1117-1118 in Jaipur and Rs. 1107-1108 per 10 kg in adjoining areas. Earlier, the oil was quoted at Rs. 1111-1112 in Jaipur and Rs. 1101-1102 per 10 kg in adjoining areas. Mustard oil cake rose to 2270-2275 per quintal from previous price of Rs. 2265-2270 per quintal.


Total arrivals were estimated at 140,000 quintal in across the country. State wise arrivals- Rajasthan 85,000 bags, UP --25,000 bags, HP-- 5,000 bags, Gujarat--5000 bags,and other states with 20,000 bags. There was negligible arrival in Madhya Pradesh.


Unconditioned Mustard was sold at lower price in many smaller mandis of Rajasthan. Mustard sold at Rs. 4585-4965 in Shriganganagar, Rs. 4805 in Suralgarh, Rawala mandi quoted mustard at Rs. 4850-5000, and in Ghadsane at Rs. 4700-4865, Hanumangarh mandi -- Rs. 4832 per quintal.


Futures market also witnessed firm trend today. Mustard October contract upped Rs.125 to Rs. 5465 per quintal. November contracts rose Rs. 14 to Rs. 5470 per quintal. December contracts ended Rs. 6 higher to Rs. 5485 per quintal.
