Selling Pressure, Sluggish Demand Weigh on Coriander Prices; Rainfall Disrupts Trading

NEW DELHI, Sept 13 (Commoditiescontrol) - Coriander remained subdued on Monday due to heavy selling by stockists and lacklustre buying, with prices declined by Rs 100 to 250 per quintal in the mandis of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. There was softness in Bihar and Bengal line coriander too. Weakening of futures was also visible in the mandis. The auction did not take place due to heavy rains in the mandis of Gujarat.

It was raining throughout the day in Rajkot and Gondal mandi areas. Coriander prices fell sharply in spice markets across the country.

Due to the retreat of buyers, prices declined. Stockists liquidated huge quantities of Coriander Eagle and Badami for selling, leading to the fall in prices. Fresh demand for coriander was also seen weak from masala mills and retail stores. Today, coriander prices remained subdued in Rajasthan's Jaipur, Kota, Baran and Ramganj mandis. Coriander remained weak due to low demand in most of the mandis of Madhya Pradesh, Delhi Line and Uttar Pradesh. In the mandis of Delhi and South also, there was a decline in Coriander Eagle and Badami. There was no change in Upper Grade Coriander prices. The flow of new purchases from the South's mills also stopped today. There were inquiries from the buyers but the purchase orders were not finalised. The auction started with a decline in the mandis. There was a selling trend in coriander prices till the closing of the market.

Today 26 thousand bags of coriander arrived in the mandis of Rajasthan. Due to being the first day of the trading week, the arrival of coriander in the mandis of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh was more today. Coriander prices remained subdued in most of the mandis including Jaipur, Ramganj, Kota in Rajasthan today. In Kota and Ramganj mandis, prices declined after buyers stopped buying for South mills and local mills deferred deals.

Due to lack of new demand, there was a fall in prices. Coriander scooter, cold quality and upper grade prices also showed a slowdown today. The market arrival of Upper Grade Coriander was less due to non-availability of new demand. A total of 9000 bags of upper grade coriander arrived in the mandis across the country. Coriander prices remained subdued throughout the day in Delhi, Punjab, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

The arrival of coriander in the spice markets of Rajasthan stood at 26,000 bags. 8,000 bags arrived in the mandis of Gujarat, 25,500 bags in the mandis of Madhya Pradesh. In Rajasthan's Ramganj mandi 10,000 bags, Baran 3000 bags, Kota Mandi 1500 bags and Jaipur 1700 bags of coriander arrived. In a bag of coriander, the weight remained up to 40 kg.
