Muzffarnagar (UP), 23 September (Commoditiescontrol)- Gur prices gained for the second consecutive day on Thursday amid strong demand ahead of Navratra, a Hindus festival.

Gur has attracted good demand from north India markets ahead of Navratra while existing stocks are low, that’s why prices have shot up , said Arun Khandelwal, Chairman, Federation of Gur Traders.

The average daily offtake of gur is estimated around 10,000 bags of 40 kg each while existing stocks were 1.42 lakh bags in the cold storage in the beginning of this week, according to the Federation.

Purkaji variety of gur was quoted at Rs 3370 per quintal. Chaku traded at Rs 3,450 per quintal.

Stocks are limited and demand for gur is expected to rise further during the festivals, said a trader.
