NEW DELHI, Dec 2 (Commoditiescontrol) - The prices of rice as well as paddy declined on Thursday due to weak buying in the states of North India, although the weather has turned bad in these states, and light rain was also seen in many areas today. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is expected to remain bad in many states of the country, in such a situation, due to the decrease in arrival of paddy in the mandis, the ongoing fall in prices may stop.
Basmati rice prices fell by Rs 100-150 per quintal in Delhi's Naya Bazar for the second consecutive day on Thursday. In Naya Bazar, Pusa 1,509 variety Basmati rice prices declined to Rs 6,100 -6,500 and its steam rice to Rs 6,600-7,150 per quintal. The price of Pusa 1,121 variety of steam rice declined to Rs 7,200 - 7,900 and its Sela rice to Rs 6,500 - Rs 7,000 per quintal.
In Delhi's Naya Bazar market, the elections of the traders association are to be held on December 4, due to which the trading activity was seen weak today.
In Punjab's Fazilka mandi, prices of 1,718 variety of steam rice fell to Rs 6,000 - 7,400 and 1,401 variety of steam rice to Rs 6,400 - Rs 6,800 per quintal due to weak demand. Today their prices moved lower by Rs 100 per quintal. Parmal steam rice prices remained stable at Rs 3,400 to Rs 3,500 per quintal.
The prices of Pusa 1,121 variety of paddy in Delhi's Narela mandi declined to Rs 3,300- Rs 3,700 per quintal on Thursday. In Najafgarh mandi, its price was at Rs 3,300 to Rs 3,751 per quintal.
In Haryana's Rohtak mandi, the prices of Pusa 1,121 variety of paddy declined to Rs 3,200 - Rs 3,801 and those of 1,718 variety to Rs 3,100- Rs 3,701 per quintal. The price of Pusa Basmati paddy stood at Rs 3,950 per quintal in Pehowa mandi of the state, and was purchased by HAFED.
In Punjab's Amritsar mandi, the prices of Pusa 1,121 variety of paddy fell to Rs 3,250- Rs 3,848 and 1,718 variety to Rs 3,200- Rs 3,731 per quintal. In the Tarn Taran mandi of the state, the price of Pusa 1,211 variety was at Rs 3,300 to 3,969 and 1,718 variety of paddy at Rs 3,200 to 3,802 and Pusa 1,509 variety was at Rs 2,900 to Rs 3,128 per quintal.
