Basmati rice remains steady as demand weakens at increased prices, mixed trend in paddy

NEW DELHI, Jan 21 (Commoditiescontrol) - Basmati rice prices remained steady in North India on Friday due to weak subscription in the increased prices, while paddy saw a mixed trend. According to traders, demand from exporters is weak in Basmati rice, though mills are not selling by reducing the price. Therefore limited variation is expected to remain in the price.

The prices of Pusa 1,509 variety Basmati Sela rice remained stable at Rs 6,000-6,300 and its steam rice at Rs 6,900-7,100 per quintal in New Delhi's Naya Bazar on Friday. Similarly, the price of Pusa 1,121 variety of steam rice was quoted at Rs 7,400 to 7,600 and its Sela rice at Rs 6,500 to 6,700 per quintal. The prices of 1,401 variety of steam rice remained at the previous level of Rs 6,300-6,500 per quintal.

In Delhi's Narela Mandi, the prices of Pusa 1,718 variety of paddy quoted at Rs 3,502 per quintal. In Najafgarh mandi, the prices of Pusa 1,121 variety of paddy rose to Rs 3,691 per quintal.

In Haryana's Hansi Mandi, the price of Pusa 1,121 variety of paddy climbed to Rs 3,661 and in Tohana Mandi, the prices of 1,121 variety of paddy moved up to Rs 3,670 per quintal. The prices of Pusa 1,121 variety of paddy rose to Rs 3,661 per quintal in Kaithal Mandi of the state. Therer was no arrival in the state's Karnal and Gharaunda mandis.

In Punjab's Amritsar Mandi, the prices of Pusa 1,121 variety of paddy declined to Rs 3,680 per quintal, while the daily arrival was only 300 bags. In Kotkapura Mandi of the state, the price of Pusa 1,121 variety of paddy remained stable at Rs 3,775, 1718 variety at Rs 3,570 and 1,401 variety at Rs 3,405 per quintal.

In Aligarh Mandi of Uttar Pradesh, the price of Pusa 1,121 variety of paddy priced at Rs 3,602 for good quality, While Rs 3,505 for 1,718 variety, Rs 3,250 for 1,509 variety and Rs 2,200 to Rs 2,300 per quintal for Sharbati variety.
