New Delhi, June 24 (Commoditiescontrol) Sugar prices dropped Rs 100 per quintal in the market of the national capital in two consecutive sessions on Friday amid sluggish demand. The demand and arrivals were weak as there is acute crisis of liquidity in the market. The stockiest, traders and retailers are buying sugar as per their very short-term demand.
The factory gate prices of sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh were at Rs 3460-3560 per quintal while wholesale prices of sugar were at Rs 3730-3790 per quintal in Delhi. Sugar is mostly supplied to the national capital by the sugar mills of Uttar Pradesh. Retail prices were at Rs 38-40 per kg today. Arrivals of sugar in Delhi were around 6000 bags.
