New Delhi, June 28 (Commoditiescontrol) The wholesale and retail prices of sugar were nearly flat in Delhi and NCR on Tuesday amid slow demand and supply while factory gate prices of sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh were a tad down due to sluggish offtake. All eyes are currently on the selling quota to be allocated for the mills for the month of July. The traders expect monthly selling quota for the month of July at least 22.5 lakh tonnes.
The factory gate prices of sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh were at Rs 3420-3580 per quintal. The ex-mill prices were down by Rs 10 per quintal compared to previous day. The wholesale prices of sugar were at Rs 3740-3820 per quintal in Delhi. Sugar is mostly supplied to the national capital by the sugar mills of Uttar Pradesh. Retail prices were at Rs 38-40 per kg today. Arrivals of sugar in Delhi were around 8000 bags.
As per the trade analysts, sluggish trade was observed in sugar as the market is facing acute cash crunch.
