Mumbai, 28 Sep (Commoditiescontrol): Thin mills participation continue to weigh on Chana or Chickpea prices during Wednesday's early trade at Delhi's Naya Bazaar market. Here, Rajasthan-Madhya Pradesh origin Chana traded weak by Rs 25/100Kg as millers were less interested in buying commodity, following the slow offtake of besan and dall amid increased supplies
Rajasthan and M.P-origin Chana was offered at Rs 4,875/100kg and Rs 4,800/100kg, respectively.
About 22 truckloads of supply arrived in the markets, up from 10 truckloads received in the previous session. Activity in Chana Dal and Besan was slow despite ongoing festive season, traders said. Buying interest was restricted to meet the immediate requirements, they added.
Adding pressure was increased availability of the commodity following the Nafed's decision to sell earlier procured stock. The nodal agency sold procured Chana Rabi-2022 at Rs 4,701-4,707 in Rajasthan on 26th Sep, 2022. It also sold procured Chana Rabi-2022 at Rs 4,701-4,725 in Andhra Pradesh, and sold procured Chana Rabi-2020 at Rs 4,321-4,395/100Kg in Madhya Pradesh. Further, it sold procured Chana Rabi-2022 at Rs 4,700-4,701/100Kg in Karnataka. It sold procured Chana Rabi-2018 at Rs 4,611/100Kg in Uttar Pradesh.
Sentiments are still under pressure as government informed Nafed to dispose 15 Lakh tons of Chana at a discount Rs 8/Kg to states. Hence, Nafed is actively liquidating old procured Chana stock at discounted price in major state.
Currently, Nafed has more than 3 mt of Chana under the buffer stock, of which around 0.5 mt are from the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
