Ahmedabad, December 9 (CommoditiesControl): The groundnut market witnessed a robust surge today in Saurashtra, as local demand drove prices up by Rs 10-15 per 20 kg. While significant market movements are not immediately apparent, traders are cautiously optimistic about a gradual market recovery.

In Uttar Pradesh, a notable improvement of Rs 150-200 per quintal has been observed, with traders speculating the possibility of further price hikes.

Today, around 25,000-30,000 sacks, each weighing 35 kg, arrived in Saurashtra, while Gondal Mandi saw the arrival of around 14,000-15,000 bags. The average quality groundnuts quoted at Rs 1291-1465 per 20 kg, with the best quality commanding prices ranging from Rs 1301-1481 per 20 kg. Danabar quality groundnuts quoted at Rs 1170-1450 per 20 kg.

In Rajkot, no new arrivals were reported today, but trading of the 13,000 pending bags took place. The average quality groundnuts quoted at Rs 1110-1328 per 20 kg, while the best quality groundnuts fetched prices ranging from Rs 1150-1448 per 20 kg.

Moving to North Gujarat, Deesa Mandi recorded prices of Rs 1400-1601 per 20 kg against the arrival of 5460 bags. Panthawada reported prices at Rs 1250-1500 per 20 kg, with 3300 bags arriving. Palanpur Mandi saw the arrival of 2711 bags, and prices ranged from Rs 1170-1562 per 20 kg.

In Uttar Pradesh, against the arrival of approximately 10,000-12,000 sacks of groundnuts, prices stood at Rs 5600-6000 per 100 kg.

The groundnut market's recent strength is attributed to heightened local demand.
