Matar Prices Hold Steady, Canadian Origin See Drop in Mumbai

Mumbai, 27 Mar 2024 (Commoditiescontrol):Prices for desi and imported matar (peas) remained stable across domestic markets with the exception of those originating from Canada. In Mumbai, Canadian matar prices declined by Rs 25 per quintal. Following the Holi festival, most domestic markets were closed, leading to a slowdown in trading activity which is expected to remain subdued until the first week of April.

Industry analysts predict that continued overseas imports, combined with an expected increase in chana arrivals from Rajasthan, may cause further declines in domestic matar prices in the near future. However, steady demand for matar is likely to prevent any significant price drops.
