Ahmedabad, April 16 (CommoditiesControl): Gujarat's cumin market displays a sluggish trend despite being in the peak season, with traders showing little enthusiasm for extensive business activities. Unja Mandi, the primary hub of cumin trade in the state, witnesses arrivals primarily from Rajasthan, constituting around 60 percent of the total, while local goods contribute 35-40 percent. Today, cumin prices remained stable across the state.

Traders note that several spice companies in Gujarat are presently sourcing goods directly from Rajasthan. However, export trade remains sluggish, with discussions about potential demand opening up post-Ramzan failing to materialize. The market is expected to receive a boost only if export trade gains momentum in the upcoming days.

Around 30,000 sacks arrived in Unja Mandi today, comprising 18,000 sacks from Rajasthan and 12,000 sacks from nearby areas. Additionally, there were 15,000 sacks in nearby businesses. Rough cumin was priced at Rs 3650-3900 per 20 kg, while the best quality commanded Rs 4200-4400 per 20 kg. Bombay Bold cumin was priced at Rs 4400-5200 per 20 kg.

In Gondal Mandi, where 875 bags arrived, prices ranged from Rs 4141 to Rs 4371 per 20 kg. In Rajkot mandi, with an arrival of approximately 2700 bags, prices ranged from Rs 3000 to Rs 4168 per 20 kg.
