Mumbai, April 18 (Commoditiescontrol): Small cardamom prices continued to rise in major markets, driven by strong demand from stockists. Prices have reached a five-month high due to robust demand, particularly in North India, which has kept prices stable.
The average price per kilogram ranged between Rs 1,776 and Rs 1,784, marking an increase from the previous session's average of Rs 1,652 to Rs 1,732 per kg. The highest reported price surged to Rs 2,587 per kg from Rs 2,702 in the previous session.
Arrivals witnessed a marginal improvement, totaling 116,207 kg compared to 108,031 kg in the previous session. Similarly, offtake rose to 115,451 kg from 106,462 kg previously, with an offtake rate of 99.4%.
Reports indicate that grade-specific rates have also climbed. Prices for 7 mm grades range from Rs 1,620 to Rs 1,680 per kg, Rs 1,780 to Rs 1,820 per kg for grades 7-8 mm, and Rs 2,040 to Rs 2,200 per kg for grades 8 mm and above.
In contrast, large cardamom prices in the major markets of the North East remained stable or weakened slightly. Badadana prices declined by Rs 50 per quintal, while Chotadana prices remained steady. Badadana prices ranged between Rs 1,300 and Rs 1,487 per kg, while Chotadana prices varied from Rs 1,200 to Rs 1,275 per kg.
