Cumin Prices Surge in Unja Mandi; Most Mandis Remain Closed on Hanuman Jayanti

Ahmedabad, April 23 (CommoditiesControl): The fervor of Hanuman Jayanti enveloped the markets across Saurashtra and Banas Kantha-Sabar Kantha regions of North Gujarat today, as most mandis remained closed in observance of the the holiday. However, amid the holiday, Unja mandi stood apart, where trading activity took place. Notably, the day witnessed a significant spike in cumin prices, soaring by Rs 50 per 20 kg.

Unja mandi saw a substantial arrivals of around 20,000 bags. Off these 14,000 bags arrived from Rajasthan, while local sources contributed around 5,000 to 6,000 bags to the total supply.

Rough cumin prices quoted between Rs 3,650 to Rs 3,950 per 20 kg, while best quality quoted at Rs 4,300 to Rs 4,500 per 20 kg. Notably, Bombay Bold variety commanded prices between Rs 4,500 to Rs 5,300 per 20 kg.



Jeeraunjha contract for MAY delivery settled at Rs 22160/quintal showing an rise of Rs 115 over previous close of Rs 22045/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 21900-22370 for the day. Open interest decreased by -162 MT to 2634 MT, while trading volume decreased by -363 to 633 MT.

Jeeraunjha contract for JUN delivery settled at Rs 21645/quintal showing an rise of Rs 150 over previous close of Rs 21495/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 21500-21825 for the day. Open interest increased by 90 MT to 627 MT, while trading volume decreased by -72 to 291 MT.

Jeeraunjha contract for JUL delivery settled at Rs 23050/quintal showing an was simillar of Rs 0 over previous close of Rs 23050/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 23050-23050 for the day. Open interest was simillar by 0 MT to 0 MT, while trading volume was simillar by 0 to 0 MT.

Currently The spread between MAY and JUN contract is 515 Rs/quintal.

Currently The spread between JUN and JUL contract is -1405 Rs/quintal.

Currently The spread between MAY and JUL contract is -890 Rs/quintal
