Small Cardamom Prices Surge Amid Strong Demand

Mumbai, April 23 (CommoditiesControl): Small cardamom prices showed upward trend in major markets, reaching a six-month high driven by robust demand from stockists. The surge in prices, surpassing the Rs 2000 per kilogram mark, reflects a combination of strong domestic and export demand, despite improved arrivals.

Market reports indicate that the average price per kilogram ranged between Rs 1,932 and Rs 2,007, representing a notable increase from the previous session's range of Rs 1,862 to Rs 1,911 per kilogram. Moreover, the highest reported price soared to Rs 3,092 per kilogram, marking a significant uptick from Rs 2,781 in the previous session.

Arrivals in the market saw a notable increase, totaling 111,582 kilograms compared to 95,212 kilograms in the previous session. Correspondingly, offtake surged to 111,096 kilograms from 94,412 kilograms previously, driven by heightened arrivals and robust demand. Notably, the offtake rate stood at an impressive 99.6%, underscoring the strength of demand in the market.

Bulk prices for small cardamom varied across different grades, with grade-specific rates reflecting higher pricing levels. Grade 7 mm commanded prices ranging between Rs 1,740 and Rs 1,820 per kilogram, while grades 7-8 mm traded at Rs 1,920 to Rs 2,000 per kilogram. Premium grades measuring 8 mm and above fetched even higher rates, trading between Rs 2,200 and Rs 2,360 per kilogram.
